Privacy Leakage Patent

Identity data-mining disturbs me. What disturbs me even more is that you can patent a technique for, say, guessing someone's age based on their purchasing habits (which is what Amazon has succeeded in doing).

Evil, evil, evil.

  1. You mean the evil part is the ability to patent this, right? Isn't this a non-obvious innovation?

  2. I guess I was offended by the intent (automating the guessing of people's ages without their knowledge), and the patentability aspect (why should this be patentable?), AND the fact that Amazon went ahead and filed it. Hence 3 evils: "Evil, evil, evil."
